LAHORE: A 6.4 magnitude earthquake jolted several cities across Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, on Wednesday. Readthe details how earthquake rocks several cities across Pakistan Today
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the quake’s epicenter was in the Hindu Kush range along the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region.
The tremors came hours after a 5.5-magnitude earthquake jolted parts of K-P early Wednesday morning, spreading fear among residents.
The PMD confirmed the first quake’s epicenter to be Bannu district at a depth of 12 kilometres. Tremors were felt across Peshawar, Bannu and Dir and some parts of Punjab.
At least nine children were injured in Bannu’s Government Model School near Tankhi Bazaar. The panic-stricken children rushed out of the three-story building with taking to the stairs while few jumped out from second, third floor. The injured have been moved to District Headquarters Hospital.

Earlier in April, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake jolted many towns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) province. The epicenter of the quake was at the depth of 200 kilometres in Hindu Kush mountain area of Afghanistan.
Tremors were also felt in Chitral, Batkhela, Bunir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Dir and Swabi districts among other areas of the province. No loss of life or property has been reported after the earthquake.
