Pakistani 12-Year-Old Girl Selected for NASA Internship

A 12-year-old girl from a Karachi school has been selected for an internship at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for one week.

Raadeyah Aamir, a student of eighth grade at the British Overseas School in Karachi, would leave for NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Saturday, according to a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy Pakistan on Friday.

During the one-week internship, Raadeyah would get the chance to learn and train as the next generation of space explorers in the Astronaut Training Experience, land walk and drive on Mars through a virtual and motion simulation, and conduct a spacewalk in a microgravity experience, the statement added.

The tween-girl was ‘over the moon’ when she learned about the development.

According to Raadeyah Aamir, it was her ambition to go to NASA and wave the flag of Pakistan.

She said she takes a keen interest in exploring space and glittering stars in the galaxy.
